STAR Academy Skating Year 2024-2025 Volunteer Fee
Volunteer Policy Star Academy and STARSkate Members Only
WRSSSC is a non-profit, volunteer run organization, managed by a board of volunteer parents, who depend on all of you, our skating parents/families/guardians to make our club successful and continue to grow.
Each year our club requires Star Academy and STARSkate families to volunteer to support the activities of the club. Your participation is vital to ensuring that the skating program is successful and registration fees are kept to a minimum.
Families of Star Academy Skaters are asked to contribute a minimum of 5 CREDITS PER FAMILY of volunteer time during each skating year (September to August of the following year).
Families of STARSkate skaters (Junior, Intermediate, and Senior skaters) are asked to contribute a minimum of 10 CREDITS PER FAMILY of volunteer time during each skating year (September to August of the following year).
A VOLUNTEER FEE PER FAMILY will be charged when registering throughout the skating year as follows:
STAR ACADEMY FAMILIES - $100 PER FAMILY.
RECREATIONAL FIGURE SKATING - $100 PER FAMILY.
STARSKATE FAMILIES - $250 PER FAMILY.
If families have skaters registering in both Star Academy and STARSkate levels, then the STARSkate fee will apply.
If your skater moves from Star Academy to StarSkate at any time during the skating year you will be required to pay the difference in the volunteer fee (additional $150) and the family will need to meet the additional Credits requirements for the StarSkate level.
Note – PA Credits and Gift Certificates may not be applied towards the Volunteer Fee, as refundable fee full payment is needed to avoid repayment delays.
At the end of the skating year, if the required hours were met by your family, the Volunteer Fee will be applied to your account as a credit to roll-over into the next skating year.
The Volunteer Fee shall only be refunded if you have met the required volunteer hours and your family choose to leave the Club due to graduation, relocation, moving to another club etc.
If your family does not meet the required hours or you choose not to volunteer throughout the skating year, then the Volunteer Fee shall be paid to the club.
The Volunteer Fee will be charged to all new or current families that do not have the roll-over credit on their account for all registrations throughout the skating year (September to June).
We have many opportunities for volunteers to use their talents and skills over the course of the year.
EXAMPLES OF VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:
(include, but are not limited to, the following)
• Assisting the coaches with Off-Ice (set-up, take down and monitoring participants and coaches).
• Assisting, organizing, planning fundraising and skating events.
• Helping to cleaning/organize the Coaches Room/s when needed.
• Assisting the coach(es) and/or Board members with paperwork and administrative duties.
• Assisting in compiling and preparing competition results and photographs for posting in newspapers, social media, at the rink etc.
• Any many more !
It is the responsibility of each family to volunteer for opportunities that will be emailed to the membership from time to time.
Note: Skaters' volunteer time (i.e. PA etc.) cannot be applied towards the family volunteer time requirement.
WRSSSC Board members and Adult Skaters are exempt from the volunteer fee requirement.

Failure to pay the volunteer fee will result in your registration being refunded and available sessions offered to other skaters on the waiting list.
